Single flowers of violet to white, sometimes pinkish, appear before the basal, three-lobed, green foliage.

Growing & Maintenance Tips for Hepatica americana

Grows best in an average to consistently moist, well-drained soil, in full to partial shade. Do not prune to the ground in fall as the leaves nourish the plant during the winter months and provide added winter protection. Slow to establish and does not like to be transplanted once it reaches its maturity.
