Cornus canadensis

Bunchberry (Crackerberry, Canada Bunchberry, Dwarf Dogwood)

Spreading by rhizomes, this low ground cover has glossy, evergreen, egg-shaped, green leaves that whorl at the top of the stem. Greenish-white to purplish flowers by midsummer will produce a fleshy, berry-like, bright red fruit. The fruit is important to wildlife and can be used in sauces and puddings.
