Rhus typhina

Staghorn Sumac

A xeriscape plant suitable for quick screening, naturalizing, or as a specimen in contained areas. The bright green foliage turns orange-red in the fall, a colourful backdrop to the crimson fruit clusters. This plant is wide spreading and the branches are covered in dense, velvet hair.

Rhus typhina grows best in a slightly acidic, fertile soil and full sun, however, it will tolerate dry or compacted soils and other urban conditions. They do not like a poorly drained soil.
