Pinus resinosa

Red Pine (Norway Pine)

A conical, straight-trunked conifer with horizontal to ascending branching and an oval to rounded crown. Sharply-pointed, yellow-green to dark green needles are displayed against the tree's bark which is red-tinged from crown to base, hence the name.

The roots of the red pine go fairly deep into the ground and are widespread; this means the tree can withstand strong winds. Wood from the red pine because of its strength has been used to make poles, pilings and used as structural timber.
