Pale pink, bell-shaped flowers have attractive, creamy throats and hang from graceful, arching branches. The flowers resemble those of the snapdragon and the dark green foliage turns a reddish colour in the fall.

Kolkwitzia grows best in a fertile soil with adequate moisture, however, it will tolerate full sun to partial shade, and a moist to dry soil. Some removal of suckers may be necessary to maintain size.
