An ideal for accent or background plantings with an erect, narrow habit. Plumes are a reddish-brown in the spring, before drying to golden-yellow, and finally to a buff colour for the winter.
Best grown in full sun to partial shade in a moist, well-drained soil, however, will tolerate most soil types. Calamagrostis is drought tolerant, once established. Prune foliage to ground level in the spring to make way for new growth.
