Sterile, showy flowers mature to pink and produce no fruit. The yellow and green, variegated foliage displays pink, leaf margins as the season progress, eventually colouring the entire leaf to a bright red.

The showy flowers seen on some cornus cultivars are actually bracts surrounding the smaller, inconspicuous flower in the centre. This cultivar is a variegated mutation of Cornus x 'Celestial'.
