The green and creamy-yellow coloured foliage is tangerine-scented when bruised. This striking plant will grow in shallow ponds, along lakes, and in marshy areas.

Acorus is not a true grass, and will produce tiny red berries.
Grows best in a consistently moist to wet soil, in full sun or light shade. If the soil dries out, the tips of the leaves will scorch. Acorus spreads by rhizomes and can form a large colony. It can be planted in a container, in or at a pond's edge, to help prevent spreading.
